Mechanical Engineering Department Chair to edit thermodynamics journal

When the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics (JNET) embarks on its 36th year of publication, UTSA's Efstathios Michaelides will have a crucial role in shaping the journal's content. Research Stipends Available to Graduate Students

The graduate program is offering research stipends to graduate students for summer 2009. Ten Ph.D. students and ten M.S. students will be awarded stipends totaling $6,000 ($4,500 for M.S. students), and are required to participate in a research program under the guidance of an assigned faculty mentor during the months of June, July and August 2009. MAES Presented with Outreach Award for 2nd Straight Year

The UTSA student chapter of The Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES) received the Outreach Award at the MAES National Symposium held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Outreach Award is given to chapters that demonstrate outstanding community service. "This is the 2nd year in a row that we won this award," says Peter Reyes, MAES Vice-National Student Representative for Operations, "and we were the first to repeat this achievement."
