Undergraduate Studies
The College of Engineering offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Each program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (EAC/ABET). Individuals enrolling in these degree programs are given an opportunity to develop a strong background in the engineering sciences and to learn the analysis, design and synthesis tools necessary to function well as active participants in many traditional, new and emerging areas of technology.
The College has excellent laboratory facilities where students receive hands-on instruction by faculty. Computer-aided design (CAD) facilities, including state-of-the-art workstations, are routinely used in all programs. Some classes are taught by adjunct faculty from local industries, giving students the opportunity to interact with engineering professionals engaged in relevant engineering practice.
The engineering education incorporates demonstrable attributes of ABET-2000 criteria as core values. Graduates from the College of Engineering should have excellent opportunities for employment and pursuit of graduate degrees.

Undergraduate Admissions Criteria
Admission into the College of Engineering is based on UTSA's undergraduate admission requirements plus additional admission criteria specific to the College of Engineering. The Undergraduate Admissions Criteria page details the two ways a student may be admitted into one of our undergraduate program.
Center for Excellence in Engineering Education (CE3)
In an effort to improve the retention rates, graduation rates, marketability, and preparedness of our students, the College of Engineering began the Center for Excellence in Engineering Education. Visit the CE3 website to learn about the center's current projects, its mission, and goals.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
While attending UTSA is substantially less expensive than other state universities of its caliber, we have many resources to help ease the financial burden. The UTSA Financial Aid Office provides information for scholarships, grants, and loans. Scholarships offered on the College of Engineering Scholarships page do require applicants to be enrolled as a student in the UTSA College of Engineering at the time of application, but you can still plan ahead and see which scholarships you'd like to apply to once you are enrolled.
Student Organizations
The College of Engineering's Student Organizations are some of the most active on campus. Governed by the College of Engineering Student Council, College of Engineering Student Organizations work together to strengthen their professional and personal development as future engineers. Organizations such as the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists provide a great service to our community by hosting events that foster awareness and interest in engineering and science among young children. To celebrate their achievements, the College of Engineering Student Council hosts a formal Engineers Ball every year.
